In 2008, John Edgar became one of the first Gallup Faith Field Associates and continues to serve as Gallup Faith Senior Research Advisor. He co-authored Engage Your Strengths 4.0 with his longtime mentor, the late Curt Liesveld.

John Edgar came to JSOU as Subject Matter Expert [SME] for Strengths Based Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Strengths Deployment Inventory, and Builder Profile. He served as the Course Director and Lead SME/ISD Liaison for the Special Operations Chaplains Graduate Certificate Program (SOCGC). He currently serves as Course Director and Lead SME/ISD Liaison for the Special Operations Chaplains Advances Courses Program (SOCAC), the Instructor of Record for the SOCAC SOF Chaplaincy Ethical Leadership Advisement Course, the Instructor of Record for the SOCAC SOF Chaplaincy Spiritual & Moral Resiliency Course, and Instructor of Record for the SOCAC SOF Chaplaincy Crisis Care & Counseling Course. He also serves as the Course Director of the Religious Support Team Orientation Course.

Having traveled to and coached in 50 countries, John Edgar has spoken to and trained thousands of people from a wide variety of audiences at organizations, universities, non-profits, military installations, conferences, festivals, and churches. Born in Philadelphia, John Edgar attended Toccoa Falls College, Princeton Theological Seminary, The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and The Beeson International Center at Asbury Theological Seminary. He holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy & Religion, a Master’s degree in Divinity with a concentration in Medical Ethics, was a Supervised Post-Graduate Fellow, and holds a Doctorate with concentrations in Story Integration, Narrative Theology, Leadership, and Psychology. He has authored a dozen books.

John Edgar lives with his bride Kristi, son Gabriel Isaiah, and two daughters Annabelle Grace & Aliza Hope, near Tampa Bay in Lithia, Florida.

Dr. Jim Johnson is also driven to live with purpose and principle, helping people become aware of their strengths and who God uniquely made them to be and helping them be effective in what they do best. Specializing in CSF training, mentoring, teaching, and coaching, Dr. Johnson was formerly named and served as a National Educational Advisor for Gallup Education, is a Gallup certified Coach, Educator, Mentor/Advisor, Advocate and a certified Faith Advisor and Consultant for Gallup Faith. He currently is a sought-after speaker and trainer in business, education, and faith organizations and a noted Strengths leader and ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene serving as faculty, Senior Consultant and Trainer for the Nazarene Strengths Institute. Dr. Johnson has an earned doctorate from the University of Southern California in Learning and Behavior Disorders and over 40 years of work in university, public, and private settings serving children, youth, and young adults as a teacher, administrator, Executive Coach, Professor, and counselor. Born and raised on the west coast, he currently resides in San Diego, California, and despite his busy schedule with university teaching, training with NSI, consulting in ​Strengths development and coaching and mentoring students and leaders – his life joy is walking life’s journey with his wife Carolyn, his three ​adult married children and their spouses, and spoiling his ​four​ grandkids.

Lieutenant Keith Madison Carter (Madison) was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating near the top of his class at Raytown High School, he attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. While playing Varsity football and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, he held two concentrations in Political Science and Sociology.

He is a graduate of the Special Operations Chaplains Graduate Certificate Program at Joint Special Operations University (JSOU). He is an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and passionately conducts EYS training in the military.

Dr. Carter answered his call to ministry while in college, but worked for several news organizations simultaneously such as ESPN, FOX and Time Magazine. After graduation, he accepted a job as Producer and Reporter for WISH-TV (CBS) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He eventually moved to South Bend, Indiana where he was an anchor and reporter for WSBT (CBS). There, he earned the Associated Press Award for Best Enterprise Reporting.

After leaving television news, he served as a public school teacher before taking on the role as an Indiana State Trooper for three years. He holds two Masters Degrees from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana (Ministries ’06 and Theological Studies ’08). In 2014, he earned a Doctorate of Ministries from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. His research on the collaborative relationship between military chaplains and psychologists was presented at the 2014 American Psychological Association Convention in Washington, D. C. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree from the Naval War College.

Lieutenant Carter received his commission as a Navy Chaplain in June 2006. After graduating from the Chaplains Basic Course in March 2009, he received an invitation to return to the school house in 2009 for On the Job Training (OJT) as Assistant to the Basic Course Instructor. During his first active duty tour, he was assigned to the USS Tortuga (LSD 46) as Command Chaplain for the Sasebo, Japan based warship. He detached from Tortuga and reported to the United States Naval Academy as a Battalion Chaplain. Additionally, the served as the chaplain for all Naval Academy’s varsity athletics and coaches. During his time at the United States Naval Academy, he received the Frank M. Adams Leadership Award given to the top junior officer in the command. He is currently the Battalion Chaplain for 3rd Marine Raider Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. There he is responsible for the pastoral care of more than 350 Marines, Sailors and their families.

His personal awards include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and a Navy Achievement Medal. He is married to Dr. Brandi Rochelle Carter, D. C, and together they have five children.

Corie Weathers, licensed professional counselor (LPC), is a sought-after speaker, consultant and author of Sacred Spaces: My Journey to the Heart of Military Marriage. Corie has focused her career for the last 15 years as a counselor specializing in marriage, divorce, women’s issues, PTSD, and substance abuse.  Together, she and her husband Matthew, a US Army Chaplain, have worked as a team to support service members and families involved with the War on Terrorism.  In 2015, Corie was named the 2015 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® where she advocated for mental health issues and served as a media correspondent writing online and print publications, consulting for command teams, and speaking to groups on issues like PTSD, grief, and marriage.  She traveled to Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter to visit troops and see deployment conditions.

Corie is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach & ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and works with organizations and non-profits like the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation to bring lasting change in the lives of military and first responder families.   She also continues to volunteer her time encouraging others through the challenges of military life. She co-hosts marriage retreats and leadership workshops with Matthew and designed a free app called “Lifegiver with Corie Weathers” that offers a marriage podcast and marriage curriculum to those who need it most.

Reverend Doctor Kenneth W. Bush, retired US Army Chaplain (Colonel), served in the US Army 35-year.  His career included assignments as the Director of Training at the US Army Chaplain Center and School and Instructor of Ethics and Leadership at the US Army Command General Staff College. Among his degrees he holds a Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary with a focus on Worldview, a Master of Theology in Ethics from Duke University, and an MA in Biblical Studies and Masters of Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary. Ken is a graduate of the US Army War College where he earned a Master of Strategic Studies. He is currently the Director of Training, Programs, and Research for the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces (NCMAF), and an independent consultant in the areas of curriculum design, ethics and leadership.

Kristi Caterson, the principal at LizaBelle Studio LLC, dreams, designs, creates and licenses original artwork to manufacturers, publishers and private clients. She has a 22-year professional history of creating art and design for many different applications. Her mission is to create great art & relevant, inspired, joyful design that will increase perceived value, function and design aesthetic of products it is used on. Kristi has a BFA with a concentration in Woodworking and Furniture Design from The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

Tommy “Urban D.” Kyllonen is the Lead Pastor at Crossover Church in Tampa, Florida. Outreach Magazine listed Crossover as one of the most innovative churches in America. Their multi-ethnic, multi-generational, multi-class church is known for it’s creativity in the arts and their outreach in the city. Urban D. is also a hip-hop artist that has recorded 8 albums and traveled extensively. Tommy has written for several publishing companies (American Bible Society, Thomas Nelson, Relevant, Urban Youth Workers Institute) and authored 3 books. His latest book “ReBuild” was published through InterVarsity Press. Tommy founded the Flavor Fest Urban Leadership Conference that has trained close to 5,000 leaders over the past 16 years.

Retired Chaplain (Colonel) Mike Dugal resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. He retired in February 2017 with 33 years of active duty service. His last assignment was serving as the Command Chaplain for USARPAC at Fort Shafter, HI. A position he held from 2012 until his retirement. He is a 2009 resident graduate of the Army War College.

Dr. Dugal holds a Bachelors of Arts, Masters of Divinity, Masters of Strategic Studies from the Army War College, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree.  He is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach & an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and continues to serve the military community through mentoring and couple counseling. Mike is an adjunct professor at Pacific Rim Christian University. He was recently elected to serve as the president of a non-profit Christian ministry focused on providing education to island pastors around the Pacific Rim.

Jennifer Cook is the wife of an Active Duty Army Chaplain, Eddie Cook. She is the owner of a freelance design and illustration company for over 20 years, having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri in 1999.

As a Chaplain’s wife, Jennifer has served alongside her husband in ministry since 2002. Their desire is to see military families strengthened, and to grow spiritually through a better understanding of how God has uniquely created each one of them.

As a Graphic Designer, Jennifer’s enthusiasm is seeing a project unfold from initial “napkin” concept sketch to the finished, printed design. Helping a client walk through this process brings a deep satisfaction and an opportunity to mentor and educate.

Jennifer has actively ministered to the wives of military spouses by serving on International and local Boards for PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel), a Bible study organization located on a many military bases worldwide. Having served as the International Communications Coordinator and most recently a local President ministering to over 200 women on a weekly basis, Jennifer realized the immeasurable potential in the ladies around her. She encouraged them to discover their strengths, empowering women to not only recognize, but also utilize these inner talents that the Lord placed in them. She is an EYS Advocate responsible for helping create the EYS PWOC Workbook. Jennifer loves witnessing the moment when women discover these abilities are God-given, and in turn, are passionately used for His Glory. This unveils a beautiful harmony of enthusiasm, performance, and service in ministry.

Jennifer has been married to Eddie Cook since 1999 and they have one son, Edward. They currently live in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Reverend Michael Neely is the Senior Pastor of New Millennium Community Church in Tampa, Florida. He received his call to ministry in August of 1986 when he resided in Chicago, Illinois. He has worked in the capacity of Youth Pastor, Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Evangelism, Assistant Pastor, Church Planter, and now Senior Pastor. He served as the Assistant Pastor of First Baptist Church of College Hill from September of 2000 until March of 2004 under the leadership of Reverend Abraham Brown.

His concern for victims of domestic violence led him to become an executive board member of the Family Justice Center where he served as a volunteer chaplain and spiritual counselor. He now serves in the same capacity at the Spring Outreach Center.

Pastor Neely obtained his Bachelors Degree from Newburgh Theological Seminary and College of the Bible and has future plans of pursuing a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing. He is certified to train clergy in the nuts and bolts of domestic violence and is currently writing his first book titled: “Black Eyes and Sweet Talk” – a correct biblical view of marriage and domestic violence.

He is an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and is passionate about empowering others to leverage their strengths to create transformational cultures in urban centers.

Reverend Thomas J. Trageser currently serves as a Director of Planned and Major Gift relationships for American Bible Society. He also is developing new innovative ways to create new streams of ministry revenue.

Tom recently was the Director of Corporate and Government Relations at Stetson University. While Tom was only at Stetson 17 months, he’s a 22+ year veteran of planned and major giving in the non-profit development world. Tom was invited to join the SU development team to build a new Corporate and Government Relations area. Within the corporate and government relations program, Tom’s two primary responsibilities were to identify & secure new streams of revenue and to coordinate the campus-wide conversation with corporations and government entities.

Previously, Tom was the Senior Church Development Liaison/Regional Development Director for the American Bible Society in New York City and Director of Development for Planned and Major Giving at Simpson University in northern California. Tom has been a development and ministry leader since 1982 as a church planter and planned and major charitable gift advisor. He received his formal training at the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary. Tom is also a GALLUP® Certified Strengths Coach and an ASC™ EYS Faith Performance Coach. He holds a Theology degree from Toccoa Falls College.

Tom has been married to Lora Lee since 1987 and have a son Ross & daughter Morgan. They live in Port Orange, Florida.

Reverend Tracy Larson serves as the Pastor of Crosslife Church in Tampa Florida and as the Co-Director of the Tampa Alliance Project. He has been encouraging and training people for the last 35 years helping them find their potential as individuals. Staring as a business manager to a business owner he has been helping those around him to discover their God given talents. Tracy began pastoring in 1990 after graduating Bible College. Tracy has served as a player/coach as an Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, and Church Planter.

He is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach & an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and has leveraged strengths developing while mentoring next generational leaders.  He is the co-author of The Gospel Footprint Training Series.

Robert Beckman is a Florida native with long stints in Colorado and Europe before coming full circle back to Florida.  He currently serves as a Church Planting Catalyst for the Tampa Bay Baptist Association. Over the past five years his team was responsible for assessment, training, coaching and funding. This team helped start over 100 churches each year.

Robert would like nothing more than to help you see your purpose clearly and take your necessary steps.  He can’t shake the realization that God loves us deeply and blesses us with fellow-travelers along the journey. He holds a B.S. in Psychology form Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL.  He also has an earned Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.

He is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach and an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach.  Most recently, Robert leveraged a strengths approach to help plant Redemption Church in Lakeland, FL where he serves as one of the Pastors.

Chaplain (Major) Tim Maracle, a native of Massachusetts, attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts majoring in Architecture. After two semesters, he withdrew from the program after a call to ministry, attended and graduated from Valley Forge Christian College in Pennsylvania. He served as Assistant Pastor at Riverside Assembly of God in Massachusetts for four years while attending Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He received his ordination from the Assemblies of God in May 2001 and entered active duty at Fort Hood, Texas in April 2003. His first assignment was as a Battalion Chaplain to the 2nd Battalion-8th (US) Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division Fort Hood, TX from April 2003-June 2005. He deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in March 2004-March 2005. His next assignment was the 37th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne), 20th Engineer Brigade from June 2005-January 2008 where he deployed in support of the Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to Afghanistan in March 2006-March 2007. He then transition to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from July 2008 to August 2010 with a deployment in July 2008-January 2009 in support of Combined Joint Special Operations Forces-Afghanistan. Following this assignment, he attended the Special Forces Qualification Course from August 2010-August 2011. Following that school, already selected to attend Resident Command and General Staff College (CGSC), he served as the Rear Detachment Chaplain for the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) from August-December 2011. He then attended CGSC at Fort Leavenworth, KS from January-December 2012. He returned to Fort Hood with III CORPS Headquarters as the Plans and Operations Chaplain from January 2013-March 2014 that included a deployment in support of ISAF Joint Command from April 2013-February 2014. He currently serves at the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as Group Chaplain.

Chaplain Maracle earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, completed the Chaplain Officer Basic Course at Fort Jackson, SC, earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Doctorate of Philosophy Degree from Trinity Theological Seminary. He graduated from Chaplain Captain Career Course; Intermediate Level Education (CGSC); the Basic Airborne Course; Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course; and the Special Forces Qualification Course.

Chaplain Maracle’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with 3 campaign stars), the Iraq Campaign Medal (with 2 campaign stars), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 4), the NATO-ISAF Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist badge, and the Special Forces Tab.

He is a graduate of the Special Operations Chaplains Graduate Certificate Program at Joint Special Operations University (JSOU). He is an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach and passionately conducts EYS training in the military.

Chaplain Maracle married the former Heidi Holt of Derry, New Hampshire. They have two children, Abigail Grace and Kaitlynn Joy, and they reside in Colorado Springs, CO.

Hal Haller is an entrepreneurial church planter who has planted several churches since 1996.  A graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he has trained church planters in several denominations and networks and as well as conducted professional consultations with numerous churches and organizations. He is the cofounder of ReproducingChurches.com, a network of churches that work together for the multiplication of new churches. Hal has served as a Visionary Catalyst for Vision 360 Central Florida in Orlando as well as President of the Board of the Church Service Center – an organization that meets the needs of the less fortunate in the Bartow community.

Hal has served as the Missional Strategist for the Jacksonville Baptist Association, starting the Expand Network that currently has over 100 active church planters.  He is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach and an ASC Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach.  Hal currently is the Church Planting Director for the Baptist Convention of New York, focusing on planting churches in New York, Northern New Jersey, and Southwest Connecticut.

Hal is married to Sharon and has two teenage children – Hal and Alexandra.  He’s a football enthusiast and loves playing guitar. He currently resides in Shelton, Connecticut.

Shellie Kelly is the wife of a retired military officer. As she has traveled the world with her husband, she has served in major leadership positions in Protestant Women of the Chapel and worked for the US Government as a Financial Management Analyst.

She was first introduced to Strengths Based Leadership while working at the Army Chief of Chaplains office in Arlington, VA in 2008. With the discovery of her 5 talents, she began to see and believe just how “fearfully and wonderfully” God had made her. In August 2010, she went through her initial strengths certification. She is a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach and an Engage Your Strengths Faith Performance Coach. Shellie has trained military spouses all over the United States. She has trained numerous PWOC leaders, spouses brand new to the Army life, and Senior leader spouses from Fort Rucker, AL. She loves encouraging those she trains and coaches to “live out their talents—to be who God intended them to be!”

Reverend Brian Shore is a Professor at University of North Florida. He has been an educator, working in the elementary, middle, high school, and university environments since 1975. While teaching he was a basketball coach and highly successful track coach. He has taught in higher education since 1987. After graduating from the University of Central Florida, Shore pursued higher education, receiving an MA in counseling psychology from Stetson University, a Master of Divinity from the Alliance Theological Seminary, and is currently writing his dissertation, The Influence of Emotional Woundedness on Leaders, seeking a Doctorate in Education from the University of North Florida.

Brian has also served as a pastor since 1982 and continues to consult in the areas of leadership & team engagement to churches and organizations. He has worked with hundreds of individuals, some universities, and churches, helping them to form highly functioning teams.

In 2009 he was certified as a GALLUP® Strengths Performance Coach and then as an ASC™ EYS Faith Performance Coach in 2014.  As a counselor he helps individuals and couples realize that their differences are rooted in their unique talents and strengths, and that if they learn to turn animosity into cooperation, relying on their strengths, they can heal their relationships and help to bring hope to a broken world.
